2-a-Day “Beat The Heat” Package

If you are sensitive to the heat and want to get a full day worth of angling in, we can often accommodate two 1/2 day floats (morning and evening) to break up the day instead of fishing into the heat of the afternoon. This can commonly open up the opportunity for dries and dry-dropper fishing! Our regular rate for a 1/2 day is $450. To do a double drift would usually be $900 but our special summer rate is $700. Not available Aug 1-15.

Trip Location

Exact trip location and time are TBD as river & weather conditions are constantly changing. Most trips take place between Redding and Red Bluff.

What’s Provided & What to Bring

On our Lower Sacramento River fly fishing trips we provide all equipment, flies, lunch (full-day), and bottled water. We have several options for cooking lunches including a BBQ, stove, or good old deli sandwiches. Just advise if your party has a preference. Please advise if anyone has dietary restrictions or special needs.

If you want to bring your own fly fishing gear, the rods we recommend for fishing with indicators are 5wt or 6wt 9’6 or 10′ fly rods with floating lines. For dries or dry/droppers, we recommend 9′ 4wt or 5wt fly rods with floating line. For contact (euro) nymphing, we recommend 10′-11′ 3wt, 4wt or 5wt fly rods with a non-tapered line.

PLEASE NO STUDDED WADING BOOTS, NO EXCEPTIONS.

Bring weather appropriate clothing. For summer and fall fishing it can still be cold in the morning, don’t get surprised by a chilly boat ride! Bring sunscreen but please avoid using the spray-on type within the boats. Don’t forget sunglasses! I repeat – don’t forget sunglasses!

Please bring snacks or special drinks if desired. We recommend packing as light as possible so you can maximize your fishing space in the drift boat.

California Fishing Licenses & life jackets

Make sure everyone in your party has a valid California fishing license (not required for guests under 16 years old).

Click the button below to purchase your license online.

You’ll also need to purchase a steelhead report card for fly fishing trips.

YES, YOU NEED A STEELHEAD REPORT CARD FOR TROUT FISHING TRIPS. (CDFW says targeting trout in anadromous waters is the same as steelhead fishing…).

Purchase your steelhead report card below.

Our Licenses & Certifications

We are a year-round, full-time guide service that is CADFG licensed, insured, and bonded since 2002.

Our guides are first aid/CPR certified, Coast Guard licensed Captains, and enrolled in drug/alcohol screening programs per USCG regulations.

Trip Deposit Policy

All trips require a 50% deposit. This is 100% refundable up to 30 days from the reserved date.

Cancellations within 30 days forfeit the deposit but may be rescheduled.

We will reschedule (not refund) in the event of poor river conditions or extreme weather conditions (not including normal/seasonal weather such as low temps, rain, wind, etc.) that would make a river trip unsafe. If your guide determines conditions are unsafe or the river is ‘unfishable’ we will transfer your deposit for an alternate date.

Cancellations made within 7 days of the scheduled trip forfeit the deposit and be charged the full rate if the date can’t be filled.
